TIL DEATH

Gold-foiled illustration for the Light Grey Art Lab gallery in Minneapolis, MN. This juried exhibition, Fortune: An Exhibition About Auspicious Times, was a show inspired by concepts of fortune, luck and superstition.

Til Death looks at superstitions surrounding marriage. It was once consider an omen of good luck to see a pair of crows on the way to your wedding. The choice of flowers for arrangements and bouquets became symbols of the promise of a couple's happy life together. Today, some people consider getting a tattoo in honor of a romantic partner a jinx on the relationship. These older tokens of marital luck are juxtaposed with a nod to a modern relationship taboo.
